Application
Its molding methods are casting, injection molding, mechanical processing, hot molding and so on. Injection molding, in particular, can be mass produced, simple process, low cost. Therefore, it is increasingly widely used in instrument parts, car lights, optical lenses, transparent pipes and so on.
Physical properties
Highly transparent amorphous thermoplastic polymer, relative density (30 ℃/4℃) 1.188-1.22. High transparency, light transmittance 90%-92%, higher than inorganic glass, and can pass through ultraviolet light up to 73.5%.
Refractive index 1.49. High mechanical strength, good toughness, tensile strength 60-75mpa, impact strength 12-13kJ/m, 8-10 times higher than inorganic glass. Stretch orientation, impact strength increased by 1.5 times.
Excellent uv resistance and atmospheric aging resistance. Glass transition temperature 80-100 ℃, decomposition temperature ≥ 200 ℃. Operating temperature -40 ~ 80℃. Alkali resistance, dilute acid resistance, water soluble inorganic salt, alkane and grease resistance. Soluble in dichloroethane, chloroform, acetone, glacial acetic acid, dioxane, tetrahydrofuran, ethyl acetate, insoluble ethanol, ether, petroleum ether, etc. Electrical insulation is good. PMMA has the advantages of light weight, low price and easy to shape.
